Dispatchers say there is a small roof at the Chelyan Church of Nazarene on Thaxton Road in Chelyan.
The fire seems to have started in the roof area of the building. Firefighters quickly responded after nearby neighbors called 911.
Firefighters say the fire could have been started by an attic fan in the roof area of the church.
