WVU President, Mike Garrison says it is obvious mistakes were made in the Heather Bresch degree scandal, but he says he will not step down. Less than a year into his job as West Virginia University's President, Mike Garrison is being pressured to quit amid a degree scandal involving the governor's daughter.
In October, WVU retroactively granted Heather Bresch a masters degree, but questions soon surfaced over whether Bresch actually earned it. An investigation by an independent panel found that she did not. University Provost, Gerald Lang and Business School Dean, Stephen Sears both resigned because of the scandal. The senate is asking Garrison to step down also, but he says that will not happen. He admits mistakes were made and would do things differently if he could.
