Elk Valley Branch Library set to reopen at Crossings Mall

Kanawha County Public Library announced the Elk Valley Branch Library will return to Crossings Mall in Elkview, Aug. 1.

According to a press release from the Kanawha County Library, the Elk Valley Express Library will close at 5 p.m. July 22, giving the staff a week to pack the books, organize them and relocate them to the new location.

The Elk Valley Express Library has been serving the upper Kanawha Valley since flooding in June 2016 destroyed the bridge to the Crossings Mall.

Items checked out from the Elk Valley Express Library location that would be due during the closure will now be due Aug. 7. No overdue fines will be assessed until after the Aug. 1 opening. The Kanawha County Library said patrons wishing to return items before Aug. 7 can do so at the Elk Valley Express Book Drop until July 28, or at any KCPL location, the Kanawha County Library said in a press release.

Items on hold will be suspended at closing on Jul. 22 . Patrons will be unable to choose Elk Valley as a pickup location until Jul. 28. Please contact another KCPL location to change hold pickup locations or to place a hold during the time the library will be closed.

Patrons will need to contact another KCPL location to request an Interlibrary Loan during the closure.
