Republican candidate for governor Bill Cole talks with Eyewitness News Lead Political Reporter Kennie Bass about a number of issues, including the campaign, the June flood, battling budget deficits, the legalization of marijuana and taking a hard look at the size of state and local governments.

This is the complete, unedited interview. There are two instances during the interview when the camera stopped rolling. The first was to allow the candidate to get a drink of water. The second was to take care of a minor technical issue. However, no conversations about the interview or what the next question would be took place.

Cole is running against Democrat Jim Justice, Libertarian David Moran and Charlotte Pritt of the Mountain Party. Eyewitness News has reached out to the Justice campaign to conduct a similar interview, but so far one has not been scheduled.

Early voting takes place October 26, 2016 to November 5, 2016.

The general election takes place November 8, 2016. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m.
