Woman in critical condition after being set on fire in Charleston, W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) - Charleston police are searching for a man who they said set a woman on fire Sunday morning on the West Side of Charleston.

Charleston police said a woman is in critical condition after being set on fire while she was sleeping on the porch of an empty home on Randolph Street in Charleston.

Police said she was sleeping on the porch when a man poured gasoline on her and set her on fire.

According to police, shortly after the woman was set on fire, a man matching that suspect’s description kicked in a door to a home on Wyoming Street and poured gasoline on the floor and tried to light it. People in the home were able to chase the suspect away before he could start the fire.

At this time, no other information has been released.
