Where to give locally on this #GivingTuesday

The Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving each year is known as #GivingTuesday. The day brings awareness to opportunities to give back time or money to local charity organizations or causes. (MGN Online)

In the season of giving, right after the biggest shopping days of the year, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving brings awareness to local opportunities to give back.

Nov. 28 is Giving Tuesday. The personal-finance website WalletHub cites December as the month when a third of all annual giving takes place.

On Tuesday, WalletHub released its report on 2017’s Most Charitable States. WalletHub ranked West Virginia at 36, Kentucky at 41 and Ohio at 16.

While West Virginia didn’t make the top 20 in the report, that doesn’t mean the Mountain State isn’t generous. The state did, however, rank first as the state with the highest percentage of population collecting or distributing food.
