Police said Jones’ 3-year old son was found dead inside a home in the 1800 block of Seventh Avenue in July 2016. Police said the boy had visible injuries.

Miles pleaded guilty to two counts of child neglect of two other children in the home and Jones pleaded guilty to three counts of child abuse Tuesday in Cabell County Circuit Court. Jones admitted to hitting the toddler with a belt, a cord and burning him.

The two have not yet entered a plea on the first-degree murder charges. Opening arguments in the trial are set to begin Wednesday.
