The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect in a road rage incident where a man followed another driver to the motorist's residence and proceeded to curse and punch the victim.

Putnam County deputies said a driver was sitting at a traffic light about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the state Route 34 and Great Teays Boulevard intersection. According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, the driver took off when the light changed to green and began driving in the left-hand lane. A white Honda Accord on the driver’s right with a white male driver attempted to change lanes and get in front of the other car.

The victim honked his horn to alert the other driver that he was about to hit his vehicle, the post said. The Honda Accord followed the victim to his residence in Hurricane. The victim parked his car in the street in front of his home and the unidentified suspect exited his car and started cursing at the victim.

Deputies said the suspect closed the distance between the two men and pushed the victim down into the bushes at the end of the driveway. The victim got up and told the man to leave, the post said. The suspect then punched the victim in the face before getting back into his car and leaving the area.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 304-586-0256 extension 2129.
