Police say man charged with arson of father's home
HUNTINGTON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
Huntington police said a man has been charged after setting fire to his father's home.
Clyde F. Chafin, Jr., 44, of Huntington was charged with arson, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.
Police said it happened Saturday at a home in the 1700 block of Williams Avenue. Police said Chafin was seen in the area with a gas container and made threats to burn down the home, which belonged to his father. Police said Chafin was on the front porch of the home prior to the fire with a pick-style hammer. Police recovered the hammer in the home.
The victim told police Chafin did not have permission to be in the home. Police said the fire originated in an upstairs room and the home sustained major damage.
Chafin was taken to the Western Regional Jail.
