Police: Man shows up to department high and carrying drugs
SOUTH CHARLESTON, (WCHS/WVAH) —
A bizarre arrest in South Charleston after police say a man showed up at the station high and carrying drugs on Thursday.
Christopher Smith, 20, of South Charleston was charged with possession with the intent to deliver in an earlier investigation and police had seized his phone as evidence in the case, South Charleston police said.
On Thursday, they say he showed up at the police department, under the influence of something, and demanded his phone back. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
While he was being processed at the station, police say he dropped a bag of about 50 Xanax pills. Police say they found other pills throughout his clothing. He was then charged, again, with possession with the intent to deliver.
Smith is being held in the South Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
