Thousands of dollars worth of building materials were stolen over the weekend from a business outside St. Albans.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is now looking for the individuals who are responsible for stealing from 84 Lumber.

Michael Pugh , manager of 84 Lumber, said about $15,000 worth of hardwood flooring and vinyl windows were taken about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. This includes $6,500 of hardwood flooring and $6,500 of vinyl windows.

Pugh believes the people involved were familiar with the business. He said he thinks three or four people ended up breaking a padlock and hotwiring a flatbed truck to steal the materials. A saw was used to cut the dashboard of the truck to hotwire it, Pugh said.

The truck was able to be tracked to two different locations, including at Sam’s Fork Road and Buff Creek, where Pugh said he believed the stolen materials were loaded onto other trucks.

The flatbed truck was found at 2 Island Creek.

At this time, no suspect names have been released.
