Mingo County deputies arrested a man after his grandmother said he threatened to kill her in her sleep, the Williamson Daily news reported.

David Manns, 33, of Delbarton was arrested Sunday and charged with domestic assault, the newspaper said.

Manns’ grandmother told officers he said he would “catch her asleep and cut her throat,” according to a criminal complaint.

The newspaper reported Manns was arraigned before Mingo County Magistrate Donald Sansom and then transported to the South Western Regional Jail. The West Virginia Regional Jail website currently lists him as being held at the South Central Regional Jail on a $1,500 cash only bond.

Domestic assault is considered a misdemeanor offense. If Manns were convicted of domestic assault, he could be sentenced to six months in jail and/or fined up to $100.
