Marshall University announced Wednesday, that starting this fall, it will allow beer sales throughout Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

In 2016, Marshall expanded alcohol sales from the Big Green Room to the chair back seating areas, but the new policy will expand alcohol sales throughout the stadium, according to a news release from the school's athletic department.

The new policy also includes several alcohol-free sections. Those sections will include parts of section 100, 105, 113, 126 and 228.

Marshall also announced new upgrades to the stadium aimed to improve fan experience.

One of those projects is a 2,340 square foot retail space, which will be called HerdZone Stadium Store. The store, which will be located on the southwest side of the stadium between gates B and C, will sell official merchandise for Herd athletics.

Marshall will also be providing more space for vendors in the concourse area of Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The upgrades will also feature televisions that will be added in the concourse area.

The Thundering Herd kicks off its 2017 season on Sept. 2 when it hosts Miami (OH) at 6:30 p.m.
