Man affiliated with Harding Funeral Home enters into plea agreement in Putnam County

The Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office said Chad R. Harding of Harding Funeral Home entered a guilty plea Monday by way of information to three counts of fraudulent claim to an insurance company.

The incidents occurred between September 2012 and April 2015 and involved fraudulent claims filed to an insurance company dealing with pre-paid insurance policies, according to a news release from the prosecutor’s office.

Each count carries a potential sentence of not less than one or more than 10 years in prison, a fine of not more than $10,000, or both, or, at the discretion of the court, confinement in jail for not more than one year and fined not more than $10,000 or both.

Harding could face a potential maximum sentence of three to 30 years in prison if the sentences were to run consecutively.

Sentencing is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 18, 2018.
