Logan County couple arrested for child abuse, neglect for allowing juvenile sexual abuse

Deputies said a Chapmanville couple was arrested Friday for allowing a juvenile to have sexual intercourse with an adult.

James Farley, 49, and his wife Maria, 45, both from Farley Drive in Chapmanville, were charged with child abuse/neglect by allowing a 15-year-old juvenile to have sexual intercourse with an adult.

According to a news release from the Logan County Sheriff's Office, a warrant was also served on Christopher Todd Wells, 19,.of Champanville for third degree sexual assault.

While the warrants were being served, two other arrests were also made. James Farley II, 25, and Kyle Adkins, 30, were both charged with obstructing and resisting arrest.

Both Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services were called to assist in the investigation.

CPS began the investigation with the 15-year-old girl alleging sexual abuse by Wells. CPS then took custody of the girl and brought her to Logan Regional Medical Center where she was found to have methamphetamine and marijuana in her system. She admitted to having taken the drugs the day before when a family member gave them to her.

The investigation is ongoing.
