Loaded firearm found in carry-on bag at Yeager Airport

For the third time in 2017, a gun was confiscated at Yeager Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Yeager Airport Police confiscated a loaded Sig Sauer 40 caliber pistol and 14 addition rounds in a box in a passenger’s carry-on, according to a news release from the airport.

The passenger, Mark Simpson, 61, of Dunbar, was issued a citation in accordance to airport regulations.

“We strongly urge all travelers to pay heed to the signage in the airport regarding firearms and double check their carry-on baggage before attempting to pass through the security check point,” Yeager Airport Police Chief Joe Crawford said in the release.

Last year, TSA officials confiscated ten firearms in bags at Yeager Airport, an all-time high.
