Link Between Education, Jobs Discussed At Huntington Event

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Business and education leaders got together in Huntington Thursday to talk about the link between education and jobs.The event is called "Ed Talks" and is an education-based speaker series sponsored by the Education Alliance.Interim Marshall President Gary White and state School Superintendent{} Michael Martirano discussed the importance of connecting education to jobs.Still, organizers admit there are roadblocks to preventing these types of discussions from happening."I would say the pace of change in our society is unbelievable, and so just keeping up with that pace is certainly a barrier," said Amelia Courts, president of the Education Alliance.The Education alliance sponsors "Ed Talks" events across the state.Thursday's event was at Marshall University.
