Kanawha County prosecutors said a grand jury has handed down indictments against 83 people, including three on murder charges.

John Stanley Ford III, 27, of Charleston was indicted on a murder charge. He is accused in a shooting in April in which Bryant Johnson, 52, was found dead on the kitchen floor of his apartment on First Avenue in Charleston.

Meanwhile, Carl Tramane Magee, 34, of Charleston, was indicted on charges of murder, attempted murder, first-degree arson, burglary and fourth-degree arson. In July, Charleston police said Magee poured gasoline on Rachele Jarrett who was asleep on a porch, and set her and the home on fire.

The third person indicted on a murder charge is Randall D. Woods, 62, of Clendenin. He is charged with murder, malicious wounding and wanton endangerment. In August, he was accused of shooting and killing a neighbor who sprayed him with bug spray during an argument near Clendenin. David Elmore Jr., 31, of Clendenin died at the scene of the shooting, deputies said. Cora Mae Elmore, 38, of Clendenin also was struck by gunfire and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
