Kanawha County Board of Education votes to cut 67 positions

Thursday night Kanawha County leaders voted to cut 67 positions within the school system.

Kanawha County lost more than 700 students from last school year to this one, so the county is not getting as much money from the state next school year.

Originally, the number of people who could lose their job was at 72, but after a few retirements that number dropped to 67.

It’s still possible that people who had their positions cut Thursday night could still have a job in the school system next year because of more retirements.
