MADISON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
Firefighters continue to investigate a fire in downtown Madison in Boone County.
"it's devastating, especially with this one being besides the library,” Madison resident Kelly Underwood said. “These buildings were built in the early 1940s, It's just part of the heritage of downtown Madison, and it's slowly disappearing with this fire."
The fire started in the 300 block of Main Street about 7 p.m. Monday, engulfing a building that houses businesses and apartments.
There was some concern that people may have been trapped inside, but everyone is now accounted for, officials said.
