Huntington to make final push prior to America's Best Community announcement

Huntington is making its final pitch Wednesday afternoon hours before the announcement about which city will be declared America’s Best Community and win the $3 million grand prize.

Mayor Steve Williams is scheduled to make a presentation in Denver at noon with the announcement expected about 7 p.m. Both events will be streamed live on America’s Best Communities’ Facebook page link.

Huntington is one of eight finalists in the running for the top award. The other communities are Chisago Lakes Area, Minn.; Darrington/Arlington, Wash.; Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; Madison, Ind.; Statesboro, Ga.; Tualatin, Ore.; and Valley County, Idaho.

More than $3 million is up for grabs. The second and third place finishers in the contest will receive $2 million and $1 million respectively.
