Game 16: Capital earns championship berth, survives against Morgantown

Charleston's Capital High School will play for the Boys Class AAA Championship Saturday after a 52-50 win against Morgantown at the Charleston Civic Center.

The Cougars held a slim 29-24 lead at halftime and went down 37-36 to start the fourth period. With 7:27 left in the game, Morgantown led by six points, but the Cougars were able to rally and complete the victory.

The lead changed seven times in the contest and the score was tied eight times.

Leondre Rogers led the charge for the No. 1 Cougars with 18 points. Anthony Pittman chipped in 13.

Torin Hanson led No. 4 Morgantown with 18 points, while Nicky Solomon had 17.

Capital faces the winner of No. 3 Huntington and No. 2 University at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
