Work is underway to prepare the city of Huntington’s only pool for opening day.

Crews have been patching and painting the pool at the A.D. Lewis Community Center on just off of Hal Greer Boulevard.

Some business have donated some supplies and their time to help get it up and running.

The pool has been around for more than 60 years and will see about 80 to 100 kids a day during summer.

"It gives them something to do in the summertime cause this is the last pool in the city and to get to swim you'd have to go quite a bit always away and some of them don't have transportation to get that far,” director Maria Hill said.

The pool is set to open on May 27.
