PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Police are searching for a federal fugitive near Hannan High School in Mason County after the man eluded authorities in a two-county vehicle pursuit.
Hannan High School was temporarily placed on a lockdown.
U.S. marshals said the suspect is Eric Benjamin Bolton, 40. He is wanted for violation of his federal supervised release conditions stemming from a 1995 federal narcotic charge.
Police were trying to stop a black BMW Tuesday morning in Winfield after they got a license plate hit on the vehicle, Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese said. The pursuit ended up on Interstate 64 and went into Cabell County. Bolton was able to elude authorities.
U.S. marshals said the BMW Bolton was driving wrecked on John's Creek near Hannan High School. Police are searching the area.
