Putnam County deputies say a pursuit related to a stolen vehicle stretched across Putnam and Cabell counties and ended in a crash involving a cruiser, with the driver taken into custody and a passenger fleeing the scene.

Deputies said they received a report Monday morning of a stolen Subaru in the Poca area.

The vehicle had a locator service, and deputies said they were able to send a signal to its location at the Hurricane Walmart.

Deputies said they attempted to locate the vehicle, but before they could find it, the vehicle left Walmart and headed down Hurricane Creek Road.

Deputies came into contact with the vehicle on Johns Creek Road in Milton and got into a short pursuit.

The car then crashed and the driver was taken into custody at the scene, deputies said.

One cruiser was involved in the crash.

A passenger fled the scene.
