Deputies say man accused of holding parents at gunpoint in Meigs County, Ohio
ALFRED, OHIO (WCHS/WVAH) —
The Meigs County Sheriff's Office said a man is facing charges after he was accused of holding his elderly parents at gunpoint and making threats.
David O. McCormick, 45, Alfred was charged with two counts of abduction, three counts domestic violence and resisting arrest, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Deputies said the incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Monday at a home on State Route 681 near Alfred. Deputies said a woman called and said her brother was holding their parents against their will at gunpoint and making threats. Deputies were able to enter the home and arrest McCormick. Deputies said McCormick resisted arrest and became combative. Deputies said a loaded shotgun was located beside McCormick during his arrest.
Deputies said they learned McCormick had also assaulted and threatened his wife earlier in the day.
Meigs County EMS checked the couple who were uninjured.
McCormic was taken to the Meigs County Jail where he awaits arraignment on the charges.
