Deputies investigating possible abduction attempt in Cross Lanes

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after is said two men attempted to abduct an 11-year-old boy in Cross Lanes.

Deputies said the boy was walking Tuesday on Circle Drive in Cross Lanes when a pickup truck going toward Cross Lanes Drive stopped next to him. The boy was coming home from his school bus stop at Cross Lanes Drive.

Deputies said a man in the passenger seat of the truck grabbed the boy by the arm and said, “Get in.” The boy struck the man and was able to get away and run home, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

The boy told officers the man who attempted to grab him was an older white male with salt and pepper hair, glasses and was wearing a long-sleeve shirt. The boy described the driver as a white male around the same age as the passenger. The driver was wearing a dark-colored baseball cap and had a brown, chin-strap style beard, deputies said.

The truck the men were in was described as silver with two doors and an extended cab.
