Charleston police search for suspect after high-speed chase

An oversize load gets stuck at Patrick Street and Washington Street. Charleston police don't believe a suspect that was being sought in a pursuit is in this area any longer, and they were checking in the East End of the city. (WCHS/WVAH)

Charleston police were searching the East End Monday for a suspect after a police chase from St. Albans to Charleston that reached speeds of 100 mph.

Police said they weren’t sure, but the suspect may be Daniel Marcus Battle, 33, who is wanted on a first-degree murder charge after a fatal shooting over the weekend in Huntington.

The pursuit from St. Albans to Charleston ended in the area of Patrick Street after police lost sight of the suspect.

Police are looking for a blue Honda Pilot with a headlight out. The vehicle has an Ohio license plate. No license plate number was available.

Battle is wanted in the fatal shooting of Brent Anthony Jackson, 31, who was shot and killed about 2 a.m. Sunday at Rehmy's Bar.
