Charleston police pay respects to Patrolman Jerry Jones
CHARLESTON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
Charleston police held a moment of silence to remember an officer who was killed in the line of duty.
Patrolman Jerry Jones was killed by friendly fire during a chase eight years ago Wednesday.
Jones and several other officers were trying to stop a truck that was ramming their vehicles.
Jones was a U.S. Marine veteran and had served with the Charleston Police Department for three years.
A group of police officers went to the family's grave site to pay respects.
