Charleston man accused of choking, threatening to kill woman
CHARLESTON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
A Charleston man is charged after police said a woman reported he beat and choked her and threatened to kill her.
James Harold Terry, 46, is charged with strangulation after an incident Sunday, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Police said on Sunday they responded to the 200 block of Delaware Avenue on the West Side to meet with a woman. She reported she had a disagreement with Terry about the people she associates with, and he became violent.
The woman told police Terry struck her multiple times on the head and in the face. He also grabbed her neck and squeezed, threatening to kill her, the complaint said.
Police said a passer-by intervened and separated the two.
When she was interviewed by police, an officer observed that the woman had apparent injuries on her face and neck.
Terry is currently being held in the South Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond
