WCHS-TV ABC8 News :: News -  - Live Stream

A public funeral will be held Thursday at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville for country music superstar George Jones.

The live stream coverage of the funeral service, which promises to be a star-studded event, can be viewed on wchstv.com. The event is expected to start at 10:30 a.m. and run through 2:30 p.m.

According to the entertainers’ official website, the service will include music from Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill with Patty Loveless, Alan Jackson, Ronnie Milsap, Kid Rock, The Oak Ridge Boys, Brad Paisley, Randy Travis, Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker and Wynonna.

Guests scheduled to make special remarks include former first lady Laura Bush, Kenny Chesney, Pete Fisher, vice president and general manager of the Grand Ole Opry, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and singer Barbara Mandrell.

Jones died Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, according to his publicist Kirt Webster. The 81-year-old was hospitalized with fever and irregular blood pressure, forcing him to postpone two shows.

With one of the most golden voices of any genre, a clenched, precise, profoundly expressive baritone, Jones had No. 1 songs in five separate decades, 1950s to 1990s. He was idolized not just by fellow country artists, but by Frank Sinatra, Pete Townshend, Elvis Costello, James Taylor and countless others.
