"Notorious" premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. on WCHS-TV 8
ABC's new series "Notorious" pairs a powerhouse cable news producer with a big-time defense attorney.
Piper Perabo and Daniel Sunjata star as an unlikely duo who team up to benefit each other.
Julia George (Perabo) capitalizes on the notoriety of Jake Gregorian's (Sunjata) clients. Together they try to control the national media message, manipulating both headlines and the justice system.
"People are really interested in looking behind the curtain of what's in media and who tells the stories and why they're choosing the stories they are choosing.," Perabo said. "I think, you know, people are very savvy these days and they want to know how things get done."
"If you have a certain opinion of how lawyers are, hopefully you know, some of Jake's better qualties would humanize them, de-mythologize them," Sunjata said.
In a fractured entertainment universe, gaining attention and viewers is tough.
"If your show is good, people will find it," Perabo said. "I mean, I watch a lot of television. And not just on the big networks, but on small networks too and even the internet. And I think people always respond to good storytelling and if you're making a great show they will find you."
"And these days you don't have to be sitting down at the time the show airs," Sunjata said. "People get their entertainment so many different ways these days. DVR'ing, binge watching."
"Right, you can watch it on your phone," Perabo offered.
"You can watch it on your phone, you know what I mean," Sunjata agreed.
