Cheese Snips
From Tamara Weiss and Carly Simon
Potluck parties bring folks together. That's why Tamara Weiss and Carly Simon cooked up a new book called Potluck at Midnight Farm: Celebrating Food, Family, and Friends on Martha's Vineyard . Check out the recipes they shared on Good Morning America.
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 pound sharp white cheddar cheese, grated
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups Rice Krispies
1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce (less if you want them milder)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (less if you want them milder)
Directions
1. Heat the oven to 325 degrees. Put the butter and cheese into a food processor and pulse until well combined. Add the flour and Rice Krispies and pulse again. When well blended add the salt, Tabasco and cayenne.
2. Drip the dough by teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. If you want, you can leave them as is, or flatten them with your hand for smoother snips. Bake the snips for 15 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave them in for at least 2 hours and up to overnight. This crisps them up.
