Traveling WV: Telephone Museum

Have you ever wondered what it takes for you to have basic telephone service? Who better to explain than a group of dedicated retired phone workers who know the system from top to bottom. The Telephone Museum in Fairmont was created to entertain and educate visitors on just what goes on behind that dial tone.

Everything from operators and the earliest switchboards, line repair and equipment, to the evolution of the telephone itself is covered at the museum. Tours are given by retired phone workers who actually did the work and can explain it better than anyone.
