Traveling WV: Old Greenbrier Baptist Church

The stonework of the church is made of Indiana limestone. (WCHS/WVAH)

The Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Greenbrier County is the oldest Baptist Church west of the Allegheny Mountains, it was established on November 24th 1781 just 3 months after Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown.

The church building has been torn down 3 times over the years, the latest structure was completed in 1940.
