Traveling WV: Cranberry Mountain Nature Center turns 50

Part of the design for the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center was to blend in with the wooded setting. (WCHS/WVAH)

The Cranberry Mountain Nature Center turns 50 this year! Opened in 1967, the center has been a starting point and a destination for millions of visitors to the Monongahela National Forest.

The nature center was built strategically at the starting point of the Highland Scenic Highway to provide visitors information about the area and everything that they might see and experience during their visit. The popular Cranberry Glades and 3 Falls of Hills Creek Scenic area are close by.
