Traveling WV: Brush Creek Preserve

Visitors can easily access the falls from above and below. (WCHS/WVAH)

Everyone knows about Tucker County's Blackwater Falls and how photogenic it is, but Brush Creek Falls in Mercer County may just rival it's northern counterpart. The falls are located in Pipestem State Park, and borders the West Virginia Nature Conservancy's Brush Creek Preserve.

Brush Creek Preserve is home to several rare plants and animals including the Allegheny Plum, Canby's Mountain Lover, and the Green Salamander. The preserve is very accessible, and requires just a short 15 minute drive off of Interstate 77 in Mercer County.
