Continuing with our Summer Fun 101 series, Eyewitness News is giving you a glimpse at the fun opportunities at ACE Adventures Resort in Fayette County.

Located in the New River Gorge region and just an hour and 15-minute drive from Charleston, it's great for a day trip, or even longer.

"Because it's 1,500 acres, you can get lost, literally, during your adventures and have a lot of fun out here,” said Haynes Mansfield, ACE Adventure Resort Marketing Director.

Climb, zip, jump and more all on the resort's waterpark located on a five-acre lake, which proves to be perfect for kids and adults.

"There is nothing else like this in the state,” said Mansfield. “There are a few places that are starting to experiment with the on lake water parks, but nothing in West Virginia."

Adventure-seekers, strap on your helmet and head to the zip line course, which will take you through trees and right along the gorge with views you won't see anywhere else.

"The thing about ACE Adventure Resort is we're like a little microcosm of West Virginia,” said Mansfield. “We've got the mountains; we've got the rivers. Everything you can do in this state, we've managed to squeeze into 1,500 acres, and that's what we're all about."

If you're looking to have fun on a budget, ACE Adventure Resort has free hiking trails and disc golf.

Once you've worked up an appetite, the resort has that figured out too.

"Out on the patio, we've got a wood-fire pizza oven that's cranking out pizzas all day long, and the kids are a big fan of that. Then this year we added the Oasis, which is frozen drinks for all ages, and you better believe those slushies are flying off the counter these days,” Mansfield said.

So whether you like to keep your feet on land, dangling in the air, or splashing in the water ACE Adventure Resort is the place to be this summer.

"This is all about getting people outside safely to try things that they've never tried before and maybe think they couldn't do,” said Mansfield.

If you're planning to spend a few days at the resort, there are multiple types of lodging offered ranging from camping to log cabin homes you can rent.
