Fire causes more than estimated $1 million damage at Winfield home

More than 30 firefighters from five departments battled a blaze in Winfield that caused damage estimated at more than $1 million to a home.

The fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. on Deerfield Drive.

Winfield Fire Chief Tony Gillispie said firefighters fought the fire until about 10 p.m. The home was vacant.

No water was available, and a tanker had to be used.

Firefighters from Winfield, Eleanor, Route 34, Bancroft and Teays Valley fire departments helped battle the fire.
