West Virginia Feed to Achieve launched a statewide program Thursday for September.

News about the effort was announced on the lawn of the state Capitol.

The nonprofit, donation-based program aims to end childhood hunger by providing grants to programs that feed students outside of school.

Examples of Feed to Achieve programs are backpack feeding programs, school based, community based and church based feeding programs.

Funds will be collected and then given to eligible programs twice this year.

More information is available on the group’s website.
