Amanda Walsh
Jenna Halbert on Sons & Daughters

Amanda Walsh Amanda Walsh was born and raised in Rigaud, Quebec, Canada, and has been acting professionally since the age of 12. She began her career in various improvisational and sketch comedy troupes, culminating in her becoming a member of the Gold Medal winning team at the 2000 Ontario Improv Games.

Probably best known for being the youngest VJ on MuchMusic, Canada's answer to MTV, Walsh's discovery story rivals some of the best in Hollywood. While earning her degree in Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto, she also waited tables at a small diner. It was there that one of her customers, who happened to be a MuchMusic producer, encouraged her to send in an audition tape. Soon thereafter Walsh was the top VJ on the popular cable channel and was interviewing the likes of Janet Jackson and Lindsay Lohan, while also performing her own original sketches, which she wrote and produced for the station's varied programming.

In addition to extensive hosting experience, Walsh has starred on the small and big screens. After working on many Canadian television programs, she appeared on multiple episodes of Nickelodeon's "Are You Afraid of the Dark?," as well as guest starring on the WB's hit show, "Smallville." Making her debut in Denys Arcand's first English language film, "Stardom," she can be seen in the soon to be released feature "These Girls," opposite David Boreanaz, which will premiere at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival. Most recently she wrapped the New Line feature "Nothing But the Truth," alongside Ryan Pinkston, John Carroll Lynch and Teri Polo, for director Christian Charles.
