A Martinez
Roy DiLucca on General Hospital

A Martinez photo Emmy Award-winning actor A Martinez joined the cast of "General Hospital" in October, 1999. Portraying Roy DiLucca, a character fans know best as the former love of Bobbie Spencer's (Jacklyn Zeman) life, Mr. Martinez brings a renewed intensity to this powerful and mysterious character. An old flame is rekindled with the recent arrival of Melissa Bedford and the two find themselves trying to recreate the love they once shared.

Mr. Martinez became popular with Daytime television viewers when he starred on "Santa Barbara" as Cruz Castillo, opposite Marcy Walker's (Liza Colby, "All My Children") Eden, for six years. The role earned him an Emmy Award as Best Actor. In 1993 he joined the hit television series "L.A. Law," as litigator Daniel Morales. Most recently he played explosives expert Nick Cooper on the popular television thriller, "Profiler."

A native Californian, Mr. Martinez was 12 when he made his professional singing debut at the Hollywood Bowl, where he won a talent competition. Later, while attending UCLA, he first appeared in the feature film "Born Wild," followed in quick succession by other films, including "The Cowboys" (starring John Wayne), "Beyond the Limit" (starring Michael Caine), "Once Upon a Scoundrel," "Walking the Edge," "Joe Panther" and "Shoot the Sundown," among others.

Mr. Martinez's extensive television credits include starring roles in many television movies, among them "Cherokee Kid" (with Sinbad, Burt Reynolds, Gregory Hines and James Coburn), "Grand Avenue" (co-produced by Robert Redford), "Deconstructing Sarah," "She Led Two Lives," "Manhunt: Search for the Nightstalker," "Death Among Friends," "Not of This World" and "Criminal Behavior."

He has also guest-starred in such television hits as "Barney Miller," "Quincy" and "Police Story." His impressive list of feature film credits includes "She Devil" (with Meryl Streep) and "Pow Wow Highway," among others.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream, the versatile performer has just completed his first album, titled "Fragrance and Thom." Not only supplying soulful vocals, Mr. Martinez also wrote all the lyrics and music for the album, a taste of blues and gospel with splashes of Spanish, classical guitar.

Mr. Martinez has also appeared on stage at the Mark Taper Forum, where he starred in the musical "Bandido!," as Tiburcio Vasez, a real-life bandit whose family was among the original settlers of San Francisco.

Mr. Martinez enjoys writing music, composing songs, playing the guitar and piano in his leisure time. A devoted family man, he and his wife, Leslie Bryans, have three children — son Dakota Lee, and daughters Devon Makena and Ren Farren.
