Anna Devane on All My Children


Finola Hughes photo Emmy Award-winning actress Finola Hughes made her return to Daytime in July of 1999 portraying Alexandra Devane on "All My Children." In February 2001 Alexandra's twin sister, Anna Devane, was discovered alive and is now back to fighting crime as Police Chief of Pine Valley.

Ms. Hughes is most widely recognized for her portrayal of the mysterious and beautiful Anna Devane on the ABC Daytime drama "General Hospital," from 1985-92. Her performance garnered her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1991 and a nomination in 2001 in the same category.

Born and educated in London, England, Ms. Hughes studied ballet beginning at the age of 10. In 1980 she originated the role of Victoria, The White Cat, in the premiere company of the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical, "Cats."

An accomplished and versatile actress, she made her American film debut when Sylvester Stallone cast her opposite John Travolta in "Stayin' Alive." Other film work includes "The Nutcracker," "Soap Dish," "Aspen Extreme," "Above Suspicion" and "Tycus." Her extensive list of television credits includes "Jack's Place," "Blossom," "Pacific Palisades," "Charmed," "Dream On" and "Tracy Takes On." In 2002 Ms. Hughes was featured in "Lifetime's Intimate Portrait."

Ms. Hughes maintains homes in New York, London and Los Angeles with her husband, photographer Russell Young, and their son, Dylan.
